Two residents of Nooksack were taken into custody on October 25 after a dispute over a car sale turned violent on Aldrich Road.
The incident began on October 22 when a victim met a man at a Meridian Street retail store to inspect a vehicle for sale. During the test drive, the man stopped the car and ordered the victim out. He then struck the victim in the head repeatedly. A woman arrived in a separate vehicle and joined the attack by hitting and kicking the victim.
The victim reported that one of the suspects gripped their throat, restricting their airway. After the assault, the man drove away in the victim's car, while the woman left in her own vehicle. Deputies were called to the 4900 block of Aldrich Road for the report of a motor vehicle theft involving an assault.
Investigating officers identified 57-year-old David Jackson and 58-year-old Blanca Jackson as the suspects. They found a vehicle matching the description of the one leaving the scene in the Jacksons' driveway in Nooksack.
Based on probable cause, the Jacksons were arrested for first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and theft of a motor vehicle. Both were booked into the Whatcom County Jail on October 25 without incident.
